Farming ‘Concern and dismay’ over current market situation

What a difference a few days of good weather can make to the spirits of the farming community.

There were 29 fish and 125 sea trout reported to the FishDee website last week. That tells its own story. Salmon numbers remain low and while the end of June is often quite dour it is more pronounced this year. There was a reasonable run of fish seen in Aberdeen on Friday, so in conjunction with our good water levels I hope we seem them materialise on the end of our anglers’ rods this coming week.

The 1st Braemar Scouts have raised  money for Sherpa Family Support  through a sponsored run up Morrone hill . Morrone hill is the site of the famous hill race associated with the annual Braemar Gathering - one of the oldest hill races in Scotland. After their run the scouts were delighted to receive a surprise video message from Bear Grylls, in his capacity as Chief Scout, congratulating them for their efforts.

A public consultation event is to be held at the Fife Arms Hotel, Braemar on Saturday 4 July, where plans will be outlined to transform the historic Royal Deeside landmark into an outstanding destination and cultural hub.
