Alford member is honoured

At Alford and District Rotary Club’s recent charter dinner held in the Haughton Arms Hotel, assistant district governor, Mike Halley, presented founder president, and, now, president elect Richard Lattimer with the first ever Paul Harris Fellowship Award to be earned by a member of the club.

President Alastair MacPherson drew attention to the many ways in which Richard has served the club, the community and the wider work of Rotary. He is out every night for the two and a half weeks of Santa’s Sleigh collecting money for the senior citizens of Alford, Sauchen and Monymusk and handing out toys to the children of the district. He organises the club’s contribution to the Lonach Gathering, Aboyne Games, BA Stores Vintage Weekend, and Castle Fraser’s Steam Engine Rally and Jousting Week-ends. Richard has also represented the club at Rotary events throughout the North-east of Scotland and elsewhere and is highly thought of, within the Rotary district.
