Library support for 2014 Games applications

People in Aberdeenshire are to be given help with applications to volunteer at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Aberdeenshire Libraries will host special surgeries at three branches across the area, to help people with online applications.

The 2014 Games take place in Glasgow next summer, and the application process for volunteers is now open.

ICT support volunteers are to provide guidance to interested volunteers, and help them with the application process.

Jackie Coroon, library learning support tutor, said: “We have already seen the value of our volunteers supporting customers with learning the basics of ICT, and now this is a great chance for them to help others across Aberdeenshire get involved in a sporting event close to home using their tutoring skills.

“Applications to volunteer in 2014 are made through the Internet, but some people might be unsure how to do this.

“Our volunteer ICT tutors and branch staff will be on hand at these surgeries to guide applicants through the process, and allow them the opportunity to volunteer for the big event.”

The surgeries will take place at the following locations:

- Stonehaven Library; Saturday, February 2, 2pm-4pm; and Saturday, February 9, 5pm-7pm.

- Westhill Library; Saturday, February 9; 10am-noon.

For further information about the sessions, contact your local branch.
