SIR,
I noted with interest the story 'Pick picked for Tories' in the Piper of February 9.

I was particularly struck by the statements of this potentially-future representative of the people living in this locality.

Ms Pick has already ignored local opinion in respect of her own interests in seeking to build dog boarding kennels in t
his "unique" area. This has alienated many who live in the neighbourhood of Parkhill, Lumphanan - a place she has lived for only 14 months.

In addition, the proposal was not part of the local plan and still fails to conform to the standards of road safety in respect of visibility for access.

Is this the sort of representation Ms Pick is indicating when she says: "I hope to be able to communicate the needs and thoughts of those living in our (my emphasis) unique part of the world...?"

Ms Pick's representative approach is also clearly seen in a letter to planners in Aberdeenshire Council, in respect of her kennels. It is one of berating those who are seeking to uphold standards in planning applications and clearly demonstrating a lack of concern for the locality and its people and only focused on her own ends.

Is this the sort of local council representative we want? If so, then the future of local politics looks bleak to me.

Yours etc.,
Dr Peter Wimpenny,
Parkhill Cottage,
Parkhill,
by Lumphanan.
