Lots of teams attended, including a team from Clydesdale Bank, Banchory, who didn't win - that went to a team of three ladies who won handsomely.
Linda Clark, scheme co-ordinator said: "The Clydesdale Bank, as the landlord of the rent-free Banc
hory office within their High Street premises, is one of a few corporate supporters who have helped the scheme and now the shop, ensure the furtherance of the Home-start ethos here on Deeside.
"Added to this are the many individuals and groups who have given of their time, finances and energies similarly. We owe them all a great deal."
Teams enjoyed the quiz under the watchful eye of quizmaster Eveline Crossan, founder member of the volunteer trustee board, and stalwart colleague Jane Morrison, who once again did all the ground-work.
The funds raised - around £376 - will go towards the Aboyne charity shop, due to open on Saturday (February 14). The shop would not be a realised dream without the Friends of Homestart Deeside volunteers under the guidance of chairwoman Margaret Paterson and supported by trustee board volunteers.
However, the star of the show is Suzy Brown, the volunteer manager who has thrown herself at the post with enthusiasm and tireless flair. Suzy is a star!
All are welcome to the new shop at the new units in Aboyne where we are lucky to lease a lovely mid-size shop in a beautiful setting. There are huge posters heralding our coming so everyone should stop and have a look. The posters were done by Chris Engel, of Scotgold.
We are also lucky to have the advice of John Lewis Aberdeen staff, who have been very supportive too.
Very many thanks to all of you who have made this possible and please feel free to come and visit us on Saturday.
Anyone who wishes to donate items, be a volunteer or indeed both should contact us on (01330) 824443, 07738 510246 or e-mailing: info@homestartdeeside.org
