The approximate dimensions of the proposed store are 70 metres x 60 metres, the proposed surface area of the store is 4228 square metres in total.
The building does appear to be quite tall, it is interesting to note that the proposed roof levels
are not clear on the planning application drawings. How tall is this proposed building?
The operating times at the store will be 7am to 11pm from Monday to Saturday and 8am to 6pm on a Sunday.
There is very little information regarding lighting, this store would be visible from quite a distance. There will be light pollution.
If built this store is the first visible building that you would see as you enter Banchory. This store certainly has the potential to affect the small businesses in Banchory, in the long term.
Tesco state that their "eco -stores help the environment".
If this is the case why build a 4228 square metre store and large car park on a green belt site, surely this store should be built on a brown field site. How green are Tesco's credentials I ask myself.
Another point to note is that the the public consultation in Banchory started on the same day that it was advertised in the "Piper".
I have spoken to a number of my neighbours who know very little about the proposed store. A number were surprised when they heard of it's location and size.
The people of Banchory should be aware that the deadline for comments to Aberdeenshire Council is April 17.
