Sir

While out a walk last Saturday, I suffered a nasty fall next to the 'Scolty Centre' in Banchory.
There are round posts which have been cut close to the ground at the edge of the path and are a dangerous hazard for any visually impaired, disabled or elderly person.

To have such an obstacle next to a centre for people with disabilities and on
a path leading to the Dalvenie Resourse Centre and Sheltered Housing demonstrates little insight or consideration for the more vunerable members of the public.

There has been no attempt to highlight these posts, and their blandess blends in with the path.

Two young teenage boys witinessed my fall and very kindly came to my assistance. They persuaded me to acompany them to the nearby Sports Centre, where a member of staff 'patched' me up.

Apart from bloody knees and hands, and a pair of trousers in the bin, I am recovering, but the next person may not be so fortunate.

I have contacted Councillor Linda Clark to investigate these short poles, and hopefully have them removed or altered.

I would like to thank the lady at Banchory Sport Centre for her help, and especially the two young lads, one of which lived near the Captain's Wood for their concern and help. Their parents should be very proud of them.

Yours etc
Robin Lattimore MBE
