SIR

ON returning to my home last week after having been away for a few days, I was horrified to find I couldn't get my car onto my drive due to the deep snow.

I continued down the road and ended up getting stuck in a snow drift.
I contacted a neighbour Mr Jimmy Lovie to see if he could help tow me out of the snow. He was fantastic!

Not only did he help pull my car free but he also had a young man who works for him come up to my drive with a "digger" and between them cleared enough snow away so that I could get my car into the garage.

If that wasn't enough, two days later I was unable to open my garage doors due to all the snow/icicles that had thawed but refroze during the night resulting in clumps of solid ice which I couldn't break up. Once again Jimmy came to my rescue.

I am not a typically "helpless female" and it doesn't come easy for me to ask for help, but I felt very humbled by Jimmy's comments: "That's what neighbours are for, you are on your own so please call if you have any problems."

I am also grateful to his wife Joyce for being sympathetic to my plight, I am very lucky to know such kind people.

Yours etc
Mary Reid
