Twelve year old Helena Grieve from Banchory Academy has been named the Aberdeenshire winner of the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society Schools Poster Competition supported by Virgin Money.

The competition, supported by Virgin Money and now in its 33rd year, attracted over 5,000 entries with 179 from Aberdeenshire alone.

Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society Kath M Mainland said: “Helena’s design came top of all entries from Aberdeenshire as it met the judges criteria of being fun, eye-catching, colourful and encapsulating the feel of the Fringe. This is a terrific achievement and something to be very proud of.

“We know how much schools enjoy being part of this competition and this year even more schools have taken part from across Scotland. I’m delighted that Banchory Academy was one of them.”

Helena’s poster will be displayed at the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh this summer as part of an exhibition along with the top three prize-winners, 13 regional winners and 57 shortlisted entries.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 24 May to 26 August 2013.
