Anglers have taken to the Dee in order to raise funds for a cancer charity, and the fishermen have a friend in a well known TV presenter.
Let’s tackle cancer, a online charity fund raising auction, visited the Dee recently to fish Crathies castle thanks to a kind donation from actor and TV presenter Paul Young, the Leys estate, Tor Na Coille hotel and Greig Thomson from Salmon International.
Munro Reid (Let’s tackle cancer organiser) said: “Let’s tackle cancer has been running now for over 2 years selling angling related donations to raise money for three cancer charities, Marie Curie, Cancer research and Macmillan nurses.
“So far we have raised over £24,000 for the charities and we hope to keep this rising throughout the year.”
Donations have varied from signed DVD’s and flies from Oliver Edwards, salmon flies from Davie McPhail to guided salmon fishing lots like this one on the Dee with Paul Young.
This donation was kindly put together by Greig Thomson from Salmo International who contacted the Tor Na Coille and Leys estate who both donated hotel accommodation and fishing for this event.
Paul Young who has been like an ambassador for LTC over the past two years kindly offered two days of his own time to host the fishing party who won the auction earlier in the year. For more information please visit the www.letstacklecancer.co.uk.
