Idlewild guitarist Rod Jones’ current project The Birthday Suit headline the latest instalment of Woodend Barn’s newly-established band night, Deliverance, on Friday, May 4
The group have received high praise for both their debut album The Eleventh Hour and their live sets, featuring what Jones has described as some of the best songs he has ever written.
With its Deliverance strand aiming to bring high quality, new and established bands normally seen in the big cities to rural Aberdeenshire, Woodend Barn has attracted the attention and praise of high profile musicians including King Creosote, Karine Polwart and Laura Marling.
Supporting the alt-rock of The Birthday Suit are Aberdeen’s post-hardcore Carson Wells and the epic soundscapes of Seas, Starry.
Doors open at 7.30, first band on-stage is at 8pm.
With Idlewild on hiatus, the group’s frontman Roddy Woomble will also be making a separate appearance at Woodend Barn on Thursday, May 17 at 8pm featuring songs which weave together strands of folk, jazz and country alongside several Idlewild numbers.
