PETROLHEADS will get the chance to try their 4x4 vehicles on a real off-road track this weekend.
Deeside Activity Park, at Dess, near Aboyne, is opening its off-road circuit for its annual 4x4 owner's open day. Owners can take their own vehicles round the course and tame the mighty Big Bertha - the park's giant see-saw, believed to be the only one in Scotland.

On Sunday (January 18), guests will be able to take their own vehicles over two pre-set circuits. The courses will include a relatively gentle non-damaging track and a more extreme circuit for the real enthusiasts.

For £10 per vehicle, everyone will get the opportunity to test their vehicle's off road capabilities and to tame Bertha.

Competitors from previous years have managed to stay on top of the big lady for up to a minute, winning prizes in the process.
This year's sponsor is Deeside Brewery and winners can expect bottles of ale and other prizes.

"We often get guests asking if they can take their own vehicle round our course, which isn't really feasible on a normal day due to the other activities we have running," said park owner Ken Howie.

"So a few years ago, we decided to hold the first of our now annual 4x4 owner's open days. They've been really popular in the past and the highlight for all guests is definitely getting a ride on Big Bertha."

Everyone who owns or has access to a 4x4 vehicle is welcome to attend.
Advance booking is appreciated but not essential.

The event starts at 10am and will continue into the afternoon.
