A CANCER charity is set to benefit from cash raised at a recent auction of equipment - including quad bikes and go-karts - at Deeside Activity Park near Aboyne.
The charity auction was held at the Dess park when a selection of equipment including shotguns, rifles, clay traps and hovercrafts were auctioned off and raised £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Park owner Ken Howie, who acted as auctioneer, said: "Approximately 200 people arrived to watch the auction, and every single lot was sold, with all fetching an acceptable price."
"This auction has allowed us to clear out all the excess kit that we've collected over the years, and it's great to be able to give some of the proceeds to a worthy cause. All our bidders went away happy, having bought equipment at bargain prices, and of course we're happy to free up some storage space at the centre."
Katie Smart, fundraising manager for Macmillan Cancer Relief, collected the cheque from Deeside Activity Park.
"We're always delighted to receive support from local businesses and it's great to see money raised in new and innovative ways," said Katie.
The auction kick-started the series of special events which Deeside Activity Park runs throughout the winter months.
Now into its sixth year at the Aboyne site, the special events series this year will include a bonfire and fireworks night from 5pm on November 9, to which entry is free and everyone is welcome; and a mini moto race day from 9am on November 2.
It is open to all who have a mini moto and entry is £25 per bike. For more information call (013398) 83536.
