A GROUP of Banchory Academy pupils are appealing for sponsorship from local residents and companies as they embark on a once-in-a lifetime adventure.
The group are sailing from Oban to either St Kilda or Northern Ireland as part of their Duke of Edinburgh gold award later this year.

They will be making the expedition with the Ocean Youth Trust Scotland in a 70-foot yacht on June 30-July 4.

The pupils must raise £700 each to cover the costs involved, which include the undertaking of the relevant safety courses as well as hiring the boat.

During the expedition, the ten pupils will also be trying to obtain the Royal Yachting Association Competent Crew Certificate and Watchleader Award.

If you would like to sponsor the group contact Mrs Clunas at Banchory Academy on (01330) 823357.
