A 21-year-old motorcyclist has died in hospital following a road traffic collision on the A93 Ballater to Dinnet road.
William Andrew Barron, known as Andy, from Bieldside in Aberdeen was travelling alone on an orange coloured Kawasaki and was believed to be returning to Aberdeen from Ballater when the collision occurred at about 9.40pm on Thursday evening one mile w
est of Dinnet.

The motorcyclist was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance.

The road was closed for several hours to allow a collision investigation to be carried out with traffic diverted along the A97 and the B9119.

Grampian Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the motorcycle in the area prior to the incident to contact them.

Senior Investigating Officer, Inspector Mike McDonald from Grampian Police Roads Policing Department said: "Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of this collision. We believe that the motorcyclist, a 21-year-old male from the Aberdeen area, had been in the Ballater area earlier in the evening and was returning to Aberdeen when the collision occurred. He was riding a distinctive orange coloured Kawasaki 1000cc motorcycle and may have been seen in the village or on the A93 prior to the collision and I would be keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the bike."

Anyone with any information can contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700 or if wishing to remain anonymous, via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
