A BANCHORY man who bought tickets for a set of concerts at Crathes Castle that were cancelled has finally received a refund.

Mike Gill spent £93 on tickets for the three-day event due to take place from August 14-16, which was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

Former X-Factor favourite Jonathan Ansell, who shot to fame with pop opera group G4, was amongst the stars
scheduled to perform but New Dawn Events promoter Brian Davies decided to pull the plug on the event after only 83 tickets were sold for the proms concert on August 16.

Mr Gill was one of a number of people to contact The Piper after failing to receive refunds from New Dawn Events following the event's cancellation.

He said getting a refund from the company run by Brian Davies became quite an ordeal.

"I guess we are happy at finally getting a refund for our tickets after all this time," he said. "However, we are very, very angry at the lack of answers to our calls and emails and the continual delaying tactics employed by Brian Davies during the last five months.

"We bought our tickets through Paypal and Mr Davies was quoted in September as saying that money had been deposited back into PayPal to allow customers to be refunded. However we didn't receive our cheque back until the middle of January!

"Mr Davies also said that the event was postponed because of poor ticket sales, however we got tickets numbered 3801 and 3802 which is not particularly low in comparison to previous years.

"Having looked around some of the consumer and watchdog sites online in the last few weeks it appears there is a lot of people still waiting for their refunds. Hopefully they will get their money back soon, if they have not already."

Promoter Davies said New Dawn Events would lose around £30,000 by postponing the three concerts.

A statement on the company's website blamed "certain people" for telling "blatant lies" as the reason behind why the concerts were cancelled.

New Dawn Events currently have no future events organised, according to their website.
