BIKERS are being invited to pull on their leathers for the third UCAN Deeside charity motorcycle ride, which will take place on Sunday, September 20.

Based, as usual, in the Royal Deeside area, the run will start from the Pannanich Wells Hotel, Ballater, and cover approximately 100 miles, finishing at the Loch Kinord Hotel, Dinnet. There will be free refreshments in the morning and a pit stop en-route.

The route is well signposted and suitable for all types of bikes from classic British machinery, to the latest cutting edge tourer. The only stipulation is that the riders try and raise some sponsorship money for the North-east's urological cancer charity, UCAN.

Organiser Chris Norton said: "The main aim of the day is for everyone to enjoy themselves whilst helping to raise funds for the charity. Each entrant will receive a lapel badge, and we will be awarding trophies for the most money raised, the oldest bike to complete the course, and the youngest rider to finish."

The total amount raised last year was £2,500, which will help UCAN to promote awareness of the disease, and provide support for those affected, and their families.

Sixty places are available. For more information and an entry form, contact Chris Norton on (013397) 55018 or visit the website at www.ucanbikeride.co.uk
