Suzanne Morrison from Banchory graduated from RGU’s MSc Oil and Gas Law programme last week at the age of 45.
Suzanne is the Business and Commercial Manager at Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and has undertaken the course in a part-time capacity over three years.
Upon leaving Summerhill Academy as a teenager with 5 O-Grades, Suzanne didn’t consider university as she had her gaze on farther horizons. Over the course of the next 13 years she travelled the world, leading an almost nomadic existence by visiting and living in countries as diverse as Greece, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, Hawaii, the United States, Canada and Jamaica.
Eventually deciding to return home to set up roots in 1995, she took up a position as Team Leader of Support at the Aberdeen branch of DNV, an independent foundation with the purpose of safeguarding life, property, and the environment.
During this time she also gave birth to her son, Matthew and they live together in their family home on St Nathalan Crescent, Banchory. In 2008, Suzanne decided that the time was right to further formalise her expertise by pursuing a degree in Oil and Gas Law.
Suzanne said: “My main highlight has been my son telling me how proud he is of me. He has been very understanding over the past few years!”
