Aboyne’s visitors in the night to promote playpark

The Aboyne Playpark Improvement Project’s latest idea has seen some little lodgers take up residence in Deeside gardens.

Groups of gnomes started popping up in the gardens of local residents on Monday night.

Project manager Sarah Brown said she hoped the gnomes would raise the project’s profile in the village and potentially increase donations towards the group’s fundraising target.

So far two, Deesiders have posted photographs of the gnomes in their gardens on Facebook. They can then ‘gnominate’ a friend and surprise them by placing the tiny visitors in their garden overnight.

Sarah said: “If people would like to donate to the project that would be appreciated, and they can do this if they wish when we pick the gnomes up the next day, but raising the profile in general is good.”

The idea came from Deborah Dinnie of the playpark fundraising group, who suggested an idea similar to an American craze known as ‘flamingoing.’
