Calling all ex Scouts and Leaders of 1st Aboyne!

Next year sees the celebration of 1st Aboyne Scout Group’s 100th year in operation and they are looking for archive material, names and connections from around the local area and indeed worldwide.

Do you know anything of the history of the group? Do you have old photos? Do you want to come to one of our centenary celebrations we are planning? Do you know someone that might be interested?

Aboyne Scout Group Executive Chairperson, Ruth Sole, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see how history has shaped our village and the influence that the Scouting Movement has had on such an integrated community over the last 100 years. As we see the present Scout group booming and going from strength to strength, we would be delighted if you could share names and stories with the Beaver Cubs, Cub Scouts and Scouts of the group today.

Where did they meet on day one? Where was their first camp? Did they build rope bridges across the Tarland burn? Did they abseil off the church spire? Did they have stalls at the Aboyne games?

What did you do during the war period? Who gained the Chief Scouts award? Did anyone go on a World Jamboree? What sort of Bob-a-Job week activities did you do?”
