Adventurer and extreme skier gets Gala underway

Record breaking mountaineer, extreme skier and adventurer Kenton Cool is set to get this years Torphins Gala underway.

The Gala kicks off at the Learney Hall at 7pm on Thursday August 14 with Kenton Cool as the guest speaker at the Gala Speaker Night.

Kenton Cool is famous for being an 11 times Everest summiteer, two of these being back to back in the same week, a global first and he will entertain the audience with an engaging account of his record breaking adventures.

He is also the first mountaineer in the world, alongside Sherpa Dorje Gyglen to complete the Ultimate Three Peak Challenge – Nuptse, Everest and Lhotse in just three days.

Friday August 15 offers all the chance to boogie on down to the Disco, with the main Gala event taking place on Saturday August 16.

The Gala Event gets underway at 12:30pm with the traditional Parade from the Learney Hall led by the Gala Lad and Lass and the Ballater Pipe Band.

For Great British Bake Off fans, there will be a baking competition, amongst other attractions including Laser Tag, pony rides and a barbecue.
