An Aboyne man has raised more than £2000 by cycling from Dover To Shetland.

Andrew Fyfe spent 28 days in the saddle, cycled around 1430 miles and climbed around 52,500ft - the eqivalent of 17 Munros.

He mainly followed the National Cycle Route 1, which is on minor roads and cycle paths up the east coast of the UK.

Andrew said: “It has been a great experience, although also physically and mentally challenging especially in adverse weather.”

He undertook the venture in support of Aboyne Tennis Club’s courts renewal and floodighting project, and also Save the Children.

The sum of £2150 was raised and along with Gift Aid the total was more than £2500.
