Clashnettie Arts Centre, near Strathdon, will be holding an exhibition of artwork by Marjorie Campbell, entitled A Life in Pictures 1936-1999.
She exhibited in Edinburgh during her lifetime and after her untimely death in 1999, large retrospective exhibitions were invited at the Lillie Gallery in Milngavie, Glasgow, and the Smith Gallery, in Stirling. Some of her work has joined their permanent collections. This exhibition will focus on paintings executed in Strathdon. On Sunday April 24, at 2pm (1pm for soup), Mairi Campbell/Dave Francis: The Cast will perform traditional and original music for voice, fiddle and guitar.
The second half of the performance will be ‘The Red Earth’, performed at the Edinburgh Fringe 2010 - a gripping tale, told in story and song, based on events in Mairi Campbell’s family - of courage, grief, loss and enduring love against the backdrop of her grandparents’ experiences in China in the early part of the 20th century.
