A local Charity group were recently invited to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for a thank you lunch hosted by the Friends of Anchor Team.
The invitation came following The Summer Marquee Ball organisers donation of £32,185.56 to Friends of Anchor in 2014.
The amount was the largest outside donation the charity had received in 2014 and Friends Of Anchor were delighted with this fabulous offering.
The guests were given a copy of the ‘ABZ and Big Oil Book’- featuring 50 years of Oil in the Silver City, and the author Jeremy Cresswell was also present.
Following the lunch, the guests were then given a guided tour of the Research Labs at ARI , including the Gene Machine, Pet Scanner and Cyclotron.
The Summer Ball organisers, Logan Sangster and Dawn Law, were also told that funds totalling £30,000 donated by the ball to Gastrocan in 2013, had funded further research and scanning devices needed for research into Gastric Cancers.
“We were thrilled to get behind scenes at ARI, and actually see where our donations had been spent , and it was very rewarding knowing that the people who continually support our event, have significantly contributed to the welfare of people living with and going through cancer treatment, and for this, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts” Said Logan.
The Summer Marquee Ball, held at Raemoir House Hotel, will be going into it’s 19th year in 2016, and has gone from strength to strength since it began back in 1998.
