Plans have been finalised for the switching on of the Christmas lights in an Upper Deeside village, and they most certainly look festive!

Ballater Enhancement Group plus the Ballater Business Association will be switching on the illluminations in the village on Saturday, November 30 at approximately 6.00 pm.

Children from Ballater Primary School, members of Ballater Pipe Band and members of Ballater Charitable Chiels have been selected for the all-important duty of switching the lights on.

The night also looks set to be a culinary treat as mulled wine, burgers and Christmas novelties will be on sale.

Any would-be Torvill and Deans will be able to get their moves ready as there will be once again an artificial skating rink for your use at a small charge.

Martin Holroyd, secretary of the Ballater Enhancement group, also wanted to point out the local Christmas draw: “...we wish to ask as many people as possible to help to raise monies for these lights by joining our 12 days of Christmas Draw. A ticket costs just £3.10 and will be the entry for 12 consecutive draws starting on the first of December and will finish on the December 12, The amount to be won will gradually increase throughout these 12 days, We aim to try and give some people an early Christmas present.”

Tickets are available from Mrs Pat Downie Quinton, Deebank Road, Ballater, Mr Martin Holroyd 59, Golf Road or Alistair and Margaret Cassie at their shop on Bridge Street Ballater,

All entries must be in by November 30.

Tickets will be sold right up to the switch- on.
