Banchory Scout Group held its first ever fun run last weekend and raised over £1000, which will go towards their 2016 trip to Canada.

More than 140 participants headed down to Knockburn Loch, Stachan last Saturday to take part.

The one kilometre race was won by Michael Eccles (under 10s) and Scott Wilson (over 10s), the three kilometre race was won by Jamie McGregor (under 15s) and Heather Thompson (over 15s), and the five kilometre race was won by father and son team Cameron Finlay (under 15s) and Roger Finlay (over 15s).

Scout Leader Mike Wilson said: “It was great to see so many people of different ages getting involved in all three distances, and to see the kids having fun in a healthy way.”

An amount estimated to be between £1500 and £1800 was raised, but the money is still being collected and counted.

The Banchory Scout Group expressed their thanks to the Sandlaw Farming Company, Monkey Business Aboyne, and the Fountain Dental Group for all sponsoring, and to the Knockburn Loch for hosting the event.
