Boxing Day fun run in Banchory

It was another good turnout despite some poor Boxing Day weather for the annual Banchory Boxing Day Fun run this year.

Over 100 people braved the cold December rain to take part in the event which has been running for around 30-years.

The 5K run stared and finished at the Guide Hut as participants made their way around the town.

The first male to return was Stonehaven’s Michael Ferguson while local lady Jenny Ricketts was the first Female back.

Just over £250 was raised from the run which will be donated in its entirety to Kincardine & Deeside Befriending, who provided refreshments for the participants on the day.

Banchory Running Club Treasurer Sandy Reid said: “We were delighted with how many people turned up in spite of the poor weather.

“The run is a fun, social event and it was good to see so many people escape the Boxing Day shopping and get together for the Run as well as the soup and refreshments in the hut afterwards.”
