The north east of Scotland mobile breast screening service will be in Alford from Wednesday June 13 until the end of July 2012.
The mobile unit will be based at the Alford Medical Practice, Gordon Road, Alford.
Women between the ages of 50 and 70 registered with the Alford Medical Practice and the Strathdon Medical Centre will be invited to attend. Older women are not sent an invitation, but they are encouraged to make their own appointment by contacting the screening centre on 01224 550570. Women who work in Aberdeen can also make their own appointment if it is more convenient to attend the centre at Foresterhill.
The aim of the programme is to detect breast changes at an early stage when treatment has the best chance of success. Women invited for the first time are strongly encouraged to attend but it is also important for anyone screened before or who missed an appointment in the last three years to take up the offer.
The risk of developing breast cancer increases with age so screening is an important check in ensuring there have been no changes since the last mammogram.
