There was not an empty seat in the house as thousands of visitors flocked to Thainstone for this year’s Royal Northern Spring Show (RNAS).

Alongside the event, held by the RNAS, Aberdeen & Northern Marts organised its annual show and sale of nearly 100 pedigree bulls and 60 exhibition cattle with a remarkable display of livestock in both classes and a sale topping price of 9,200gns for a Charolais bull.

Alan Hutcheon, deputy general manager at Aberdeen &Northern Marts, said: “The quality on display here was tremendous, both in the bull and exhibition cattle classes.

‘‘The fact that almost all the bull lots were cleared at auction just shows how impressive the trade was.”

The pedigree bulls Overall Champion was Mr & Mrs J Penny, Shannas, Mintlaw, with their 22-month old Limousin bull Shannas Illusion, which went on to realise 7000gns at auction.
