A Royal restaurant plan for Ballater has been given the go-ahead.

Prince Charles wants to give the community a boost following the devastating flooding by opening a Highgrove-style shop.

It is hoped the pop-up restaurant and shop in the former Co-op in Netherley Place could be open within weeks.

The application for the new facility was made through Prince Charles’ Dumfries House Trust.

Since the extensive flooding, the Prince has played a key role in fundraising for remedial works, galvanising support from around Aberdeenshire to generate funds for repairs and landscaping of the village’s caravan park – an important tourist attraction in the area.
