Participants will get to work with professional composers and musicians

As part of the sound festival events being held at Woodend Barn, Go Compose! is an intensive composition project for young composers who are still at school.

They will have the opportunity to work with professional composers and musicians to create original pieces of music which will be performed in the Red Note Ensemble’s Noisy Night on October 26 as part of the sound festival. They will also receive a recording of their piece.

The project is for anyone aged 12 - 17 who has tried composing and who would like to learn more.

Organisers say they are looking for people with potential and commitment who are enthusiastic about creating their own, original music and keen to try out new ideas.

The project will be led by composers Kerry Andrew and Gabriel Jackson with soprano Sarah Dacey and professional musicians from the Red Note Ensemble.

There will be additional support from students from the University of Aberdeen’s music department.

The three day project is October 24 to 26 (10am – 5pm), plus performance at 8pm on October 26.
