Parking charges have come into effect this week after a deal was finally agreed over the running of the Dinnet Car Park.
The Cairngorms Outdoor Access Trust (COAT) has agreed a deal with Kinord Hall Trust and Aberdeenshire Council to take over the running of the facility.
The car park had become worn and flood damaged in recent years with the unbound surface prone to pot-holing.
A £75,000 funding package had been put together between COAT and the Council to upgrade the Car Park.
As part of the arrangement to take over running the car park, COAT will charge £3 for parking starting this week.
The money raised will go towards maintaining the path networks around the Cairngorms. Residents of Dinnet will be eligible for a free permit while season tickets will be available for £15 (or £12 plus the presentation of a £3 ticket) from the COAT Aboyne office.
Councillor Katrina Farquhar said: “I am delighted that COAT have taken over the management of the car park as it is in the centre of the village and well used by locals and visitors who have welcomed the improvements, making it far more attractive and practical for using.”
