A move is under way in Braemar to establish a project providing care for elderly and vulnerable residents from within the community.
Later this month a meeting will be held in the village to outline the initiative in greater detail.
Three years ago, Braemar launched a community action plan in which care in particular was acknowledged as an area needing improvement.
With NHS and social services merging in a health and social care partnership, Marr Area Partnership has been commissioned to support the investigation into establishing a locally-run initiative in Braemar that provides care to the community from within the community.
Critical to the success of such a project - which has strong local support - is to have people within the area who would be willing to undertake care work and the flexible hours that go with it.
There would be both voluntary and paid work for a range of activities from befriending or visiting, helping with daily
chores right through to medical support.
The community event will be held in the village hall on Wednesday, October 26, at 6.30pm.
