As part of their commitment to supporting and recognising local communities third sector interface, Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action have launched a very special award.

The Spirit of Ballater Awards have been launched to recognise outstanding volunteering efforts in the Ballater community since 2015/16.

There are four categories up for grabs: Young volunteer (under 18 years old); individual volunteer, local voluntary community group or emergency services organisation with volunteer staff.

To vote, the people of Ballater are being asked to complete a simple nominationf orm available at Ballater Library.

Aileen Longino, local development officer for Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action, said: “We want to recognise the tremendous effort by individuals and groups to help others in the community.”

“These awards are a way of saying a small thank-you,” she added.

Closing date for nominations is September 10, and the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 24, in the Victoria Hall at 1pm.
