One of the world’s leading chamber groups will be performing at Banchory’s Woodend Barn on Friday, November 9 at 7.30 pm.
The Schubert Ensemble, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2013, has established itself as one of the world’s leading exponents of classical music.
They will be performing as part of Woodend Music Society’s season of chamber music at the Barn in a programme featuring Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor and Elgar’s Piano Quintet.
As part of the ongoing sound festival, the event will also feature a piano quintet commissioned in 2009 from award-winning composer Jonathan Dove, whose works include two operas written for broadcast on Channel 4 television.
The Schubert Ensemble comprises William Howard- piano, Simon Blendis- violin, Jane Salmon- cello, Douglas Paterson- viola and Peter Buckoke- double bass.
In their long career the group have received over 80 commissions and recorded over 30 critically acclaimed CDs.
They will be familiar to Radio listeners through their regular BBC Radio Three performances.
