A local dog charity has commissioned a Donside artist to create a unique memento marking its 20th anniversary.
Aberdeen charity DAWGs turned to Alford artist Alan Sinclair to create a special Rock Tablet glass trophy for the Best in Show Winner at the organisation’s Anniversary Family Fun Day.
Alan’s artistic talents had originally been channelled towards a career in ornamental sandblasting and freehand engraving, but in March 2014 he started up as a wildlife photographer and artist focusing on glass/crystal engravings using special Scottish Rock tablets. The Trophy for DAWGS Day will be specially engraved with a portrait of the winning dog.
The winner will be chosen at the dog show, part of the Fun Day at Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Games Arena this Sunday, August 17.
Ian Paterson, chairman of DAWGS, said: “For the last 20 years the welfare and well-being of dogs of all ages and breeds has been at the heart of our work.
“Our DAWGS Family Fun Day is an opportunity for us to hold an event that everyone can enjoy - including our four legged friends. Our Best in Show is as likely to be an 11 -year-old cross breed as a pedigree but is loved and treasured and that is something we want for all dogs.”
Entry to the event, which runs from 12-4pm, is free. Registration of dogs from 11.30am.
