BALLATER Golf Club invited HRH Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay to plant a tree in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
The tree was planted on the 1st hole, aptly named “Birkhall”, the holiday home of High Royal Highness and only a short car drive from the club.
Dressed in Gordon tartan, the relaxed royal chatted with locals who had gathered to greet him.on Tuesday this week.
Prince Charles spoke with head greenkeeper Derek Cowan, saying how wonderful the course was looking, before enjoying a cup of tea in the clubhouse.
Colin Smith, secretary of Ballater Golf Club, said: “We are very honoured that His Royal Highness found time in his busy schedule to visit the club.”
