Mid Deeside Church, through a local benefactor who sponsored the publication, recently produced a 2013 calendar entitled the “All things bright and beautiful - The Seasons of the Year in Mid Deeside”.

Proceeds from the sales are to go jointly to Mid Deeside Church and to Edinburgh Hospital Paediatric Intensive Care Unit: Retrieval Service.

The Scottish Paediatric Retrieval Service was nominated by Session as a charity which would receive half of all the funds raised from the sale of the calendar. Established in 2001, the Scottish Paediatric Retrieval Service’s role is the stabilisation and transfer of critically ill or injured children from a referring hospital anywhere on the Scottish mainland or islands to intensive care units in the childrens’ hospitals in Edinburgh or Glasgow.

The photographs were all submitted during a campaign ran by Mid Deeside Church and all the photographs taken were from local people. In addition, an independent selection panel of judges working with the remit to identify the photographs that best depicted the seasons of the year in Mid Deeside Parish chose the final thirteen photographs for inclusion in the calendar. The standard of the entries were particularly high. All the photographs were taken in and around Mid Deeside Parish.

Several local shops in and around Mid Deeside Parish are stocking copies of the calendar which is for sale at £6.50, in addition, the calendar can be viewed and bought at the Mid Deeside Parish Church in Torphins, alternatively copies can also be ordered from Lesley Stone on 013398 84354 or Colin Guy on 013398 82551.
