A Banchory councillor has paid tribute to residents who campaigned to have a local speed limit reduced.
Cllr Karen Clark has welcomed the changes to the Belts of Collonach speed limit, which came into force on Monday.
She said: “I am delighted at the introduction of a full time 40pmh speed limit on the B974 at The Belts of Collonach. Having canvassed opinion amongst residents some time ago, it was clear that action had to be taken to improve road safety. Some of the speeds that were clocked in the survey commissioned by the council were totally unacceptable.
“Thanks to the petition gathered by local residents and the support of Feughdee West community council this is a great outcome. I want to pay particular tribute to local resident Lesley Shearer and community council member Dilys Hudson whose tenacity in seeing this campaign through has been an excellent example of how residents, community councils and local elected members can work together with Aberdeenshire Council to implement measures to improve safety.”
