The mystery of a white symbol in Westhill has finally been explained.

The question mark, near the Tesco roundabout, has been baffling local people.

But Westhill and Elrick Community Council has now provided the answer.

Council chairwoman Shona Collins said: "The site is earmarked for a public artwork to mark the town’s 50th year in 2018.

"Westhill and Elrick Community Council hopes to source funding to commission the Gateway Art Project.

"As to what form the artwork takes - that is a question for the community to help answer, and residents will be consulted in due course.

"We hope the symbol continues to excite interest. Hopefully it will stimulate debate and some great ideas."
