Banchory town co-ordinator Jan Leatham has cleared up any confusion over this year’s Christmas lights.
Local residents may have noticed that there are some Christmas lights attached to lamp-posts in the town centre which are already switched on, and some that don’t work at all.
Banchory Business Association and Banchory District Initiative jointly raised funds for the Christmas lights in the town through various channels including the Traders’ Ball and the sale of calendars.
Ms Leatham said: “This year, several of the lights are broken and some of the lamp-posts have been moved by the Council, resulting in a less than spectacular display.
“Whilst efforts will be made to consolidate the best of the existing display in the centre of the town this year, the decision has been made to save up funds and replace the whole town’s display with something to be proud of for Christmas 2013.
“Having said that, we are expecting a good turnout for Thursday’s (November 29) Christmas tree lights switch-on in Scott Skinner Square. Come along at 6pm for a local start to your Christmas season!”
