Appeal for witnesses after power tool thefts

Police are appealing for witnesses after thousands of pounds worth of power tools were stolen from Deeside vehicles in a night raid.

Thieves targeted the motors in Tarland and Aboyne between midnight and 6am on Thursday, September 19 escaping with what has been described as a four-figure sum.

The Square and Melgum Road areas of Tarland and Craigferrar Way, Aboyne were the scenes of the incidences.

Now the hunt is on, with Police on the look out for the occupants of a Red Van and a small Silver vehicle seen in the vicinity at the time for questioning.

Investigating Officer, Constable Steve Lafferty urged against complacency: “This type of crime is relatively rare in the area and I would urge the public not to be complacent.

“I would advise people to remove valuable property and equipment from vehicles which are to be left unattended overnight. I would urge anyone who believes they may have seen either vehicle mentioned in these areas to contact Police Scotland”.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents or who has been offered tools or equipment for sale is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
