Two 13-year-old boys have been charged following a fire which destroyed the former Glen O’Dee Hospital in Banchory.

More than 60 firefighters tackled the blaze at the derelict A-listed building late last Thursday.

Police Scotland said the boys would be reported to the Youth Justice Management Unit.

Detective Sergeant George Nixon said: “We would like to thank members of the Banchory community for their support and assistance throughout this inquiry.

“While no one was injured a significant amount of damage has been caused and the consequences could have been far greater.”
