Eight charged over ATM attacks

Eight men have been charged following their arrest as part of an investigation by ‘Titan’ the North-west regional organised crime unit, and Police Scotland.

The following have been charged with: a) Conspiracy to cause an explosion contrary to Section 3 1a of the Explosive Substances Act 1883 and b) Conspiracy to burgle commercial premises contrary to Section 1a of the Criminal Law Act 1977.

Andrew Michael White, 27, of Exeter St, St Helens, Merseyside; Anthony David White, 26, of Kingswood, Huyton, Knowsley; Carl John Cavanagh, 33, of Lime Court, Huyton, Knowsley; Anthony Raymond Conroy, 29, of Ash Vale, Wavertree, Liverpool; Michael Francis Galea, 41, of Gregson Road, Prescot, Knowsley; Nanu Miah, 27, of Anderton Road, Sparbrook, Birmingham; Scott Pearson, 34, of Ena Crescent, Leigh, Greater Manchester and Gary Andrew Carey, 39, of Barford Road, Huyton, Knowsley.

The charges relate to the period February 1,2015 to February 13, 2016 during which ATM machines in England and Scotland were attacked on ten different occasions.

The eight men have been kept in custody to appear before Liverpool City Magistrates Court this morning.
