Police hunt stolen cars following supermarket raid

Police have this week renewed their appeal for information following the theft of an ATM from a Banchory supermarket.

A five-figure sum of cash was stolen when thieves targeted two ATMs at the Morrisons store on Banchory’s North Deeside Road at around 3am on Wednesday January 21.

Officers have released an image of a stolen car which they believe may have been connected to the raid.

The blue Subaru Impreza (pictured), registration WRX STI, went missing from a garage in Inverurie on the morning of Monday January 19.

Additionally, officers are re-appealing for information following the theft of an ATM from RS McCalls in Byron Square, Aberdeen between 9.30pm on Saturday January 17 and 6.40am on SundayJanuary 18. Police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to.

Detective Inspector Stewart Mackie, who is leading the investigation, said: “Whilst these two incidents are similar, we are keeping an open mind about who may be responsible and if they are linked at this stage.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the blue Subaru Impreza in the Kintore or Deeside areas and who may have information that could assist our investigations into these incidents.”
