A drunk driver, who was filmed in Stonehaven, has been jailed for five-and-a-half months at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
Sean Hills (36), of Stonehaven, was given the custodial sentence and a six-year driving disqualification.
He pleaded guilty to being unfit to drive through drink or drugs, and also admitted a charge of dangerous driving.
A video which showed Hill driving erratically back in January was filmed by a passenger in a following car and then went viral.
Roads Policing Inspector Ewan Innes said: “On both occasions that this man has been caught driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, it has been as a direct result of members of the public reporting his erratic driving to the police.
“I would reiterate our thanks to those who have come forward to report these incidents and confirm that Police Scotland will continue to react to reports of this nature in a robust manner.
“Over 50% of drivers caught drink or drug driving are as a direct result of the public reporting to the police.
‘‘Deaths as a result of drink driving are reducing, but it still accounts for up to 15% of fatal collisions on our roads and I would urge drivers to remember that they are risking their lives, their passengers’ lives and the lives of other road users.
“The sentence handed out by the courts sends a strong message that drink or drug driving will not be tolerated.”
