A police appeal for witnesses has been made after a 19 year old man was assaulted in Banchory.

The incident took place outside the Nile Takeaway at Bellfield carpark on Sunday, September 18.

It is understood the injured man was involved in a disturbance with a number of other men aged between 20 and 25 and was then assaulted.

He sustained facial injuries and was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The incident happened at around 1am and police have appealed to anyone who saw anything or has any information to contact them.

PC Kerri Johnston said: “Around two or three females tended to the victim’s injuries after the assault happened and there were also a number of other people in the area who may have witnessed what happened. We are asking for them to get in touch with us on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous as they may have information which could assist with our enquiries.”
