Wet conditions failed to dampen the spirits of visitors to the 138th Ballater Highland Games last week.
Organisers decided just hours before the event that it should go ahead after heavy rain left parts of Monaltrie Park waterlogged.
The decision paid off as around 4000 people turned out for the annual feast of sporting competition.
Games secretary Edward Anderson said despite the recent spate of damp weather visitors had still turned out and provided a “brilliant” atmosphere.
“Despite the heavy rain in the morning we were blessed with a half decent day,” he said.
“We had a situation in the last couple of days where we thought we may have to cancel but things have turned around and we have had a good day with a crowd similar to previous years.
“The competition has also been up to the usual high standard.”
Organisers had to make alternative car parking arrangements as the usual area for vehicles was under water.
Games chairman John Sinclair said: “We were able to use the primary school and village streets.
“We brought in fourteen tonnes of woodchip so that catering vehicles and exhibitors could get into the field.
“We have lost money through having to close the car park, but it would have been worse if we had to call off our games.”
