Deeside farmer is overall champion

Deeside farmer Neil Barclay won a Royal seal of approval at the Aberdeen & Northern Marts Spring Show bull sale when he took the overall supreme championship.

Neil, of Harestone, Crathes, was both Charolais champion and took the overall title with his April 2010-born entry, Harestone Ferrari, which was selected as the best of all the entries by show judge Ron Mackie, of Madderty Farm, Crieff.

He was presented with the championship trophy by Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal, who is patron of the Royal Northern Agricultural Society, organisers of the Spring Show.

His champion bull was sold for 7,200gns to another Deeside farmer, Charles Smith, Bogentassie, Lumphanan.
