A world-renowned jeweller is appealing for donations of gold and silver to help make the famous Banchory Bangle.

Dr Malcolm Appleby has been designing the hand-engraved bangles since the 1970s to help raise funds for Children 1st, Scotland’s national children’s charity.

Last year’s otter design raised more than £11,000 for the organisation, taking the total from the bangles to over £140,000.

This year celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Banchory Bangle and to mark the occasion Mr Appleby has chosen a design centred on the heron.

Tickets for the bangle draw are available from June with the winner being drawn at the Touch of Tartan Ball on Friday. November 18, at Aberdeen’s Beach Ballroom.
